Online balloting provides a valuable opportunity for increasing the education value of debate and speech competition. Certainly, as a coach, the ability to read my students' ballots online is a significant improvement over (unsuccessfully ) snagging paper ballots on dark buses from the hands of students as they passionately critique their judges' intellectual abilities.
Along those lines, could a feature be added that allows coaches to review the ballots of the judges they provide to tournaments?
We're experts at critiquing our own students' ballots written by judges from other schools, but all too often we risk the Glass House Syndrome, not knowing how well our own judges are performing. Being able to review those ballots would enable us to provide more effective guidance and training to our own judges, as well as proactive, enriched context for assigning judges to events and divisions.
This would increase the educational opportunities of competitive debate and speech.
